Let’s Beat the Odds!
At a very young age, founder, Tamika White, saw small businesses with lucrative ideas and great work ethic start but fail within the first couple of years and it disturbed her. "I just did not understand why a small business with a solid business idea, a large market share and the skills to provide the good/service could not survive."
In high school she discovered the answer. Painters-paint, Mechanics-fix cars, Pastors-pastor and Caterers-cater. These people are great at what they do but the paperwork and the financial management of the business would fall to the wayside because they are not accounting experts, they are Painters, Mechanics, Pastors or Caterers!
In 1997, Tamika graduated from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville with a BLS, emphasis in Mathematics and a dual minor in Business and Communications. Not sure what to do with such a diverse degree, she began working for Union Pacific Railroad in St. Louis, MO. After 7 years with the company, with positions including Customer Service Representative, Information Technology Specialist and her final position as Sr. Financial Analyst, when the company relocated, not wanting to uproot the family, she moved on to work for a Health Maintenance Organization(HMO). Though fulfilled with the position of Financial Analyst for a major HMO, she moved on to work for a small manufacturing company to gain hands on experience in Managerial (Cost) Accounting. The desire to help the community in a more substantive way just would not go away. To curb that desire, she took a position with BJC Medical Group, part of the largest Health Service Organization in Missouri to gain nonprofit experience; the last piece of the puzzle was in place. Finally, the desire to help small business owners, churches and other nonprofits with their accounting needs rose up enough to prompt the starting of this business that is dedicated to the small business owner.
Tamika grew up watching her father run small businesses that never reached their full potential because of this very thing. In trying to keep up with the accounting and filings, the business suffered because her father had to handle it all himself. She vowed that if she could make a difference in just one business owners’ life, she would.
